Scottish Gas Network Update

An update from Scottish Gas Network who are upgrading in our area.

As you know, we started stage one of our project in July with non-customer intrusive work taking place. We’re now moving onto stage two of this project however, for this stage we may need to enter residents homes to upgrade their gas supply as part of this project. This will depend on where gas pipes and meters are located. We’ll also need to temporarily interrupt gas supplies and will provide five working days’ notice to residents beforehand.

Before we’re due to arrive at their home, customers will be asked if anyone in the property is registered on the Priority Service Register, has been diagnosed with coronavirus or is self-isolating or shielding.

Our contractor SSE will be carrying out this project on our behalf and our work will last for approximately 35 weeks. During this time we’ll be working in the following areas:

Whilst we are carrying out our work, it may be necessary to apply give-and-take traffic management measures or install temporary two, three or four-way traffic lights where required.

In the event we have to close the footpath, temporary pedestrian walkways will be erected. Parking may also be restricted in places.

We’re working closely with Scottish Government to make sure we carry out our project in line with all current coronavirus safety guidance. We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities from the virus. Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus

We’re writing to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our website and using social media and traffic bulletins to keep residents and motorists informed.

Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.

If you have any other enquiries about this project, please call 07831 730 597 during office hours (8am to 4.30pm) or email customer@sgn.co.uk outside these times.
